SpineDyn

Engineering Medical/health/well-being/medtech

Project description

The planning of the spinal arthrodesis represents a complex task for the surgeons. Clinical studies show a high variability in decision making for spinal surgery. This might be explained by the lack of information the surgeon had before the surgery due to the current standard surgery protocol. This variability is problematic because it could cause complications for the patient such as revision surgery or an excessive reduction into the spinal motion. SpineDyn is a diagnosis assistant that provides surgeon with the following essential information about the patient: - spinal shape and deformation angle of the spine, - spinal deflection and patient balance, - overview of the intervertebral forces. This information will be useful for the surgeons to stablish their surgical planning of the spine.
