Project description
Non invasive early screening of bladder cancer through NMP22 protein detection with lab-on-a-chip technology integrated into a toilet kit. One time installation but with cartridge for consumable. There already exists a test for NMP22 but transferring it into a lab on a chip would allow for quicker results (30m vs potentially 5m) and more reusability + more convenient to incorporate in this toilet kit. Target clients are everyone, but light be more strategic to focus first on health institutions and eldercare homes
Issue addressed by the project
There is not enough done on early screening of cancer. Many cancers are still discovered too late to be treated with the most effective method.
Solution(s) brought by the project
- Screening solution available at home, as early as it could be. Discovering the cancer early allows then to follow the best treatment and gives the best chances at survival. The screening would be done in a non invasive manner, automatically collecting the urine and analyzing it, giving a direct feedback. If positive, some further tests at a doctor should be done
Project need(s)
- I need to find a partner who is quite experimented in lab-on-a-chip technology to help in designing the prototype to detect the NMP22 protein
