Do you know the paradox of choice of Barry Schwartz? In this modern society we want to maximize individual freedom. To maximize freedom, we maximize the choices. But paradoxically with so many options people find it difficult to choose and delay their decision or even can't decide. This is the same with the restaurants. Who never struggled to find a new qualitative place to eat? Take this case where you have been asked by your friends to find a new place for diner. As 90% of consumers you will go online to read reviews. Most likely on online crowd-sourced platforms like tripadvisor, yelp, resto.be, etc... But reviews there are impersonal and sometimes even fake! Next to that word-of-mouth remains the most popular way for a consumer to recommend a business according to a recent study (Nielsen).
